While the big-money signings will hog the headlines for now, there were some other steals made by the franchises that might make a difference in the actual tournament. Players like Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, Cameron Green, and Nicholas Pooran have brought oodles of cash at the current year’s  IPL auction 2023.

Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza was picked up by Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the IPL 2023 auction at his base price of INR 50 lakhs which may be considered a steal deal as he scored 219 runs in 8 matches in the T20 World Cup 2022 and took 10 wickets. This would be the maiden appearance of Sikandar Raza in the IPL.

Phil Salt was roped in by Delhi Capitals (DC) at his base price of INR 2 crore. His responsibility in the team will be to strengthen the batting line-up with his aggressive batting. The 26-year-old will be supported by renowned names such as David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Prithvi Shaw, and Rishabh Pant.

England’s Phil Salt is a wicketkeeper-batsman. He is a right-handed batter and can also bowl spin. Phil Salt has not played in the Indian Premier League so far. For England national cricket team, the 26-year-old has played 11 ODIs and 13 T20Is. He is yet to play any Test match for England.

In 11 ODI games for England, the right-handed batsman has slammed 406 runs in 9 innings at an average of 45.11. He owns a strike rate of 132+ and has also slammed 2 fifties and 1 century for the team. The wicketkeeper batter has also played 13 T20I games for England. In 12 innings, he has smacked 245 runs at an average of 22.27. He also owns a spectacular strike rate of 161+ in the shortest format. He has also slammed 2 fifties with a top knock of 88 runs.

Defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) will look to have yet another great season by clinching their second title. At the IPL auction 2023, they picked up Kane Williamson at his basic price of INR 2 crores which is a steal deal as Kane Williamson was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad just one season after the franchise had retained him for INR 14 crores in IPL 2021.

In IPL 2023, the Kiwi star played 13 matches. He scored 216 runs in 13 games at an average of 19.64. He also hit 1 fifty in the tournament. Kane Williamson first arrived in the Indian Premier League in IPL 2015. In his IPL career so far, the right-handed batsman has played 76 games. He has hit 2101 runs at an average of 36.22.

Adil Rashid (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

At the IPL auction 2023, Sunrisers Hyderabad signed leg spinner Adil Rashid at his base price of INR two crores. With his majestic bowling skills and longevity in terms of experience, he will be seen spearheading the spin department of the team.

Adil Rashid was not part of IPL 2022. In IPL 2021, he played for Punjab Kings. He just played 1 match in the season in which he failed to pick any wicket. In his 3 overs, the right-arm spinner conceded 35 runs and emerged costly at an economy rate of 11.66. He will be the one spinner to look out for in IPL 2023.

Jason Holder (Rajasthan Royals)

The IPL 2008 champions Rajasthan Royals signed Jason Holder for INR 5.75 crore in the IPL auction 2023. The team will count on him to provide support to the bowling line-up alongside Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, and Yuzvendra Chahal. As the 31-year-old can also bat well, the franchise will expect him to contribute a lot to the team with his batting in the lower middle order.

At the mini-auction, his base price was INR 2 crore, but after an intense bidding battle between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), the latter sealed the deal by roping him in.

Jason Holder, the West Indies former skipper all-rounder, played 12 games for the new franchise Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022 and scored only 58 runs besides taking 14 scalps. Jason Holder was purchased by LSG at the IPL 2022 mega-auction for a high sum of INR 8.75 crore.
