The likes of AB De Villiers, Dale Steyn, Imran Tahir, Morkel, and Albie Morkel have been part of victorious franchises in the past. David Miller has carried on the tradition and was a part of the victorious Gujarat Titans side last season. He was retained by the franchise heading into IPL 2023.
The IPL 2023 auction will be held in Kochi on December 23. The auction will start at 12.30 pm IST and run till the evening. The venue is all decked up for the glamorous event that is expanding its wings with every passing year.
Meanwhile, a total of 991 players, including 714 Indians and 277 overseas, registered for the IPL 2023 mini-auction. Now, the board BCCI has shortlisted the players and announced the IPL 2023 Player Auction list. A total of 405 players will go under the hammer in the IPL auction 2023. Out of these, there are 19 players who have kept themselves in the Rs. 2 crore bracket. There are 11 players who in the Rs. 1.5 crores bracket. There are 20 players in the bracket of Rs. 1 crore.
Out of 405 players, there are 132 overseas players and 282 uncapped players, and 4 from associate nations. there are 87 slots available while 30 are for overseas players. Sunrisers Hyderabad has the maximum salary cap available of Rs. 42.25 crores available. Kolkata Knight Riders have the least salary cap available for Rs. 7.05 crores.
Talking about South African cricketers, a total of 22 players were shortlisted for the auction as said earlier. As many as 11 South Africans were retained by their respective franchises for the 2023 tournament.
David Miller (Gujarat Titans), Faf du Plessis (Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper), Quinton de Kock (Lucknow Super Giants), Kagiso Rabada (Punjab Kings), Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi (both Delhi Capitals), Dwaine Pretorius (Chennai Super Kings), Marco Jansen and Aiden Markram (both Sunrisers Hyderabad) were retained by their respective franchises before IPL Auction 2023.
