According to reports by the Age and the Sydney Morning Herald, some Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise bosses have offered select Australian players 12-month contracts to play around the year in different leagues.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises have made acquisitions in the overseas T20 leagues like UAE’s ILT20, CSA’s SA20 and CWI’s CPL. And they want their key players to be available for selection in all the leagues.

According to reports, a figure as high as $5 million may be offered on yearly basis to high-profile Aussie names like Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and David Warner.

“A source familiar with the issue said a sum of $5 million had been discussed to lure a big-name Australian player. This would be more than double what Test and one-day international captain Pat Cummins is paid as the highest-ranked player on CA’s contracts list.

“Contracted Australian stars such as Cummins, David Warner and Glenn Maxwell would be eagerly sought by IPL franchises that own teams in other domestic Twenty20 leagues,” asserted the report.

The process for the IPL 2023 auction has begun as all ten Indian Premier League (IPL) teams have been asked by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to submit the list of the retained players by November 15.

The date for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction, which will be a mini-auction, has not been officially announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). However, a few reports have stated that the Indian Premier League 2023 auction will be held on December 16 in Turkey or Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, in addition to the money left over from the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction, each team will have an additional INR 5 crore to spend at the Indian Premier League 2023 auction. This will lead to the teams having a purse of INR 95 crore.

Also, the Indian Premier League will go back to the home-and-away format after three long years in the Indian Premier League 2023.
