Ex-India batter Virender Sehwag feels that Delhi Capitals (DC) spinner Kuldeep Yadav will have to take on much more responsibility in IPL 2023.

Kuldeep had a sensational season last year, taking 21 wickets in just the league stages with an average of 19.95. He liked the turning tracks last season, where DC played many of their games. Sehwag believes that the left-arm leg break bowler will also like bowling at the slow tracks of Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Ahead of DC’s opening match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 1, Virender Sehwag discussed the responsibility that Kuldeep Yadav will have to pick up for his team.

“Until all the players become available, Kuldeep Yadav will need to take on extra responsibility. He will enjoy bowling on the Delhi pitch, which sometimes remains low and turning. He will look to build on the confidence that he got from last season, which also helped him make a comeback into the Indian team.”

Capitals will see several of their top players missing in the first few matches. Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, and Mustafizur Rehman will not play the first 2-3 matches. Not to mention the team’s regular captain – Rishabh Pant, who was in a horrific car crash last December and has not recovered yet.

Manoj Tiwari believes that Axar Patel will be crucial to DC’s success in IPL 2023

Apart from Kuldeep Yadav, DC has another frontline Indian spinner in their ranks. All-rounder Axar Patel was in great form during the Border-Gavaskar trophy against Australia earlier this year. Former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwari feels that he is crucial to Delhi Capitals’’ success in IPL 2023.

Speaking about Axar, and DC’s replacement for Rishabh Pant – Abhishek Porel, Tiwari said:

“Delhi have a good team on paper and they have done well over the past few seasons. They have managed to replace Pant with a talented Bengal wicketkeeper in Abhishek Porel. But I feel if they are to do well this season, Axar Patel’s performances will become crucial as he is in red-hot form.”

Delhi Capitals will be looking to improve upon their performance in the 2023 season of IPL, where after making it to the playoffs for two seasons straight, they just missed out by finishing 5^th.
