Ex-South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes was asked to name who he thinks are some of the best fielders in the world today. He had only one name to take – Ravindra Jadeja.

Currently, a fielding coach for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Jonty Rhodes was the first cricketer in memory who made his legend with his excellent fielding. Undoubtedly the best fielder in his day, people still reference his feats on the field and consider him the greatest fielder in cricket history.

In a recent interview with Times of India, Rhodes was asked to name the 3 best fielders in the World at the moment. He did not take time to think for his answer as he had only one name on his mind, tat being Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

“Right now there is only one – Ravindra Jadeja,” he said.

When asked about what makes a great fielder, Jonty Rhodes gave valuable insights in determining how good a fielder actually is.

“It is a matter of discipline to learn good techniques. One of them is the ability to move laterally and sideways as cricket is a very straight-line game… To be a good fielder, you need agility to change directions. Secondly, you need to have good anticipation… Good anticipation means you expect every bowl to come to you. This is not something you can coach.”

Jonty Rhodes’ side LSG will kick off their IPL 2023 campaign against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday, April 1.

Jonty Rhodes backs KL Rahul to have a great IPL 2023

Lucknow Super Giants’ fielding coach Jonty Rhodes has backed team captain KL Rahul to have a stellar IPL 2023.

Rahul is arguably the most consistent top performer in IPL history. He scored over 600 runs in the tournament last year, taking his team to the playoffs on their first attempt.

Despite poor performances in recent times, Rhodes backed KL to have a good IPL 2023.

“He is a wonderful batter and a great captain who loves to lead from the front. We have no doubts about his ability as he had a wonderful season last year. One-day cricket is something different and Rahul has grown in his captaincy. His calmness at the ground is great, it is very important in T20 cricket.”

LSG will be looking to improve upon their IPL 2022 season. This time, they will be targeting a finals visit, or winning the league in only their second attempt.
