Lucknow Super Giants allrounder Krunal Pandya, on Saturday (April 1), suffered a nasty blow on his leg after being hit by a shot from Nicholas Pooran. The incident took place during the ongoing clash between LSG and Delhi Capitals at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

Both the teams opened their respective campaigns in IPL 2023 with the ongoing game. Asked to bat first, LSG have posted a big target of 193 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs. Opening the innings in Quinton de Kock’s absence, Kyle Mayers starred with the bat, smashing 73 off just 38 balls.

Towards the end of the innings, Pooran’s fine cameo of 36 runs helped LSG post the big total. Ayush Badoni also played a quickfire knock of 18 runs from just 7 balls to help LSG cross the 180-run mark. For DC, Khaleel Ahmed and Chetan Sakariya picked up 2 wickets each.

Talking about the incident, it took place in the 18th over when Krunal Pandya was standing at the non-striker’s end and Nicholas Pooran was up against Mukesh Kumar.

On the fourth ball of the over, the pacer bowled one outside off and Pooran went hard against it. The West Indies star hit a powerful shot towards Krunal Pandya who did try to take evasive action. But the shot was so powerful that he did not get enough time to save himself. Before he could get himself out of the line of the ball, the ball hit him on his right leg.

Fortunately, the ball hit him on the pad. However, it did not stop Krunal from losing his balance and fall on the ground. At that time it looked like a painful blow but Krunal Pandya seemed fine as he dismissed all the fears with a laugh.
