Mumbai Indians’ Playing XI vs GT: IPL 2023, Qualifier 2. Mumbai Indians take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2023 Qualifier 2 in Ahmedabad on May 26, Friday. The match starts at 7.30 IST. The winner of the match will play against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL Final. 

Mumbai Indians defeated Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator to Qualify for the final. They scored 182/8 batting first and bowled out LSG for 101 to win the match by 81 runs. This was a first-ever win against LSG in the IPL, a result of a combined team effort.

Nehal Wadhera’s cameo and Akash Madhval’s spell of 5/5 were the key moments in the game. Madhval equalled Anil Kumble’s spell of 5/5 in IPL 20229 in South Africa while in Wadhera, MI found a finisher.

GT and MI have played thrice in the IPL with Mumbai Indians ahead 2-1 in the head-to-head count. Both teams won at their respective home venues earlier this year. MI are the far more experienced side when it comes to playing in IPL knockout matches. They have won five titles and are searching for their sixth.

Their batting looks like their stronger suit than their bowling. However, the side needs to be given credit for making the finals without their two premier bowlers Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah. Chris Jordan replaced Archer and did his job to perfection in the last game. Akash Madhval has been terrific in the last few games for MI. Along with Jordan, Jason Behrendorff has been good throughout the season taking wickets inside the powerplay.

Having beaten LSG comprehensively in the Eliminator, Mumbai Indians should look to back the same side in Qualifier 2 against GT.

Rohit will open the batting. He scored a crucial half-century against SRH in MI’s last league game but failed to replicate his form. He scored just 11 off 10 balls. The MI skipper has scored 324 runs for the season with two fifties. Before the last game, he struggled with the bat throughout the season.
