Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) dethroned Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 38th match of IPL 2023. LSG won the match by a massive margin of 56 runs. Marcus Stoinis‘ breathtaking knock of 72 runs in 40 balls proved to be the difference in the end. Marcus Stoinis smashed 6 fours & 5 sixes and was in beast mode.
PBKS’ run chase of 258 runs never took off as they were always behind the required run rate. Atharva Taide was the biggest positive for PBKS who scored 66 runs in 36 balls as he struck 8 fours and 2 sixes. Perhaps, PBKS made a mistake by dropping Matthew Short as in his place Sikandar Raza couldn’t dictate the terms.

I do like the responsibility of batting in the middle order- Marcus Stoinis
During the post-match presentation, Marcus Stoinis revealed that his finger is better now after walking off the field after a nasty blow to his finger as he couldn’t complete his 2nd over.
Marcus Stoinis stated that he always likes to take responsibility of batting in the middle order. Marcus Stoinis pointed out that he has batted at every position in his career and said that he was swinging the bat in the nets.
“The finger is alright. It is better now. We will get scans done. We were joking about the difference between this wicket and the one at our home. Was just trying to build partnerships. Ayush got off to a flier as well. I do like to take responsibility of batting in the middle order and finishing it off,” said Marcus Stoinis.

“I have batted everywhere in my career. I was swinging a few in the nets. So, they got excited and gave me the new ball. No one loves to bowl on a flat one,” he added.
