RCB vs CSK: "After The World Cup, He Should Get Consistent Chances"

The veteran Indian all-rounder Kedar Jadhav believes that the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ruturaj Gaikwad should get a long run in the Indian cricket team after the 2023 ODI World Cup. Kedar Jadhav praised Ruturaj Gaikwad as a promising young talent and said that he can dominate in international cricket across formats.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been in good form in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). The Maharashtra batter is fourth on the orange cap list, scoring 197 runs from four matches with an average of 65.67 and a strike rate of 155.11. Gaikwad has been a consistent performer for his domestic team across all three formats for the past few years.

Ruturaj Is A Very Quality Player – Kedar Jadhav

In a media interaction, Kedar Jadhav, an IPL expert and commentator on JioCinema, highlighted Ruturaj Gaikwad’s performances in domestic cricket and the IPL.

“Ruturaj is a very quality player and I feel after the World Cup, he should get consistent chances the way he has performed across formats, be it Ranji Trophy or T20s with the IPL. I do think he is a promising young talent,” Kedar Jadhav said.

Ruturaj Gaikwad got the chance to make his debut for the Indian team following his heroics with the bat in the IPL 2021. The 26-year-old won the orange cap and scored 635 runs in 16 matches. He played a crucial role in helping his franchise win their fourth title in the mega tournament in 2020. He represented India in nine T20Is and one ODI match. He scored 135 runs and 19 runs, respectively.

Ruturaj Can Be The Future CSK Captain – Kedar Jadhav

Kedar Jadhav believes that Ruturaj Gaikwad is the strongest candidate to succeed MS Dhoni as captain of the Chennai Super Kings. The 38-year-old said that Ben Stokes is also a contender to lead the side, but his availability is the main concern.

“Ruturaj can be the future CSK captain once Dhoni retires. Ben Stokes is also a contender alongside Jadeja. But for that, Stokes needs to perform well this season and also you have an issue of availability. So I think Ruturaj Gaikwad is the best option as CSK captain after Dhoni,” he added.

Kedar Jadhav represented the Chennai-based franchise from 2018 to 2020. The right-handed batter played 23 matches and scored 248 runs with an average of 20.67 and a strikeout rate of 96.50. The all-rounder last played in the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2021 season.

Ruturaj Gaikwad will next be seen in action when the Chennai Super Kings take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their next match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday, April 17. The MS Dhoni-led team are in fifth place in the 10-team point table after winning two matches out of four.
