Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood said that Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara puts a lot of effort into batting, which makes it difficult for the bowler to get his wicket. Josh Hazlewood said that Cheteshwar Pujara is someone who Australians love to hate.

The 35-year-old had a good record against Australia in the longer format of the game. The right-handed batter scored 2,033 runs against the Aussies with an average of 50.82, including five centuries and 11 fifties. However, Hazlewood troubled Pujara in red-ball cricket, dismissing him six times.

You’ve Put In A Lot Of Hard Work – Josh Hazlewood

Speaking on the RCB podcast, Josh Hazlewood said that bowlers need to work hard to dismiss Cheteshwar Pujara. Hazlewood believes that the bowler would be thrilled after getting Pujara’s wicket.

“It’s a bigger thrill for the bowlers. I think when you do end up getting his wicket, it means you have earned it. It means you’ve put in a lot of hard work. Whether it is the fifth ball he faces, you’ve already bowled to him in the previous Test matches, you’ve earned that respect, and you’ve earned that wicket,” said Hazlewood.

He’s A Fantastic Player – Josh Hazlewood

Hazlewood said he and Pujara have had some great tussles over the years in Test cricket. The right-arm pacer hailed Pujara as a fantastic player and said that the Australians love to hate him.

“He’s someone I’ve had some great tussles over the years, and, in particular, in Australia. He’s someone Australians love to hate, but he’s a fantastic player and I guess that is part of Test cricket. When you do get him out, you’ve earned it,” said Hazlewood.

Josh Hazlewood was initially picked in the squad for the Broder Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). However, he was ruled out of the Test series and three ODI matches due to an injury. The fast bowler is likely to miss the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he is still recovering from Achilles tendonitis.
