Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra believes that the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s poor home record will be a disadvantage for the team in the forthcoming IPL 2023. The IPL team has struggled to win games at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in recent seasons, which is noted for its tiny boundaries and high-scoring contests.

RCB faces Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore in the evening game on Sunday (April 2).

In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Chopra expressed his belief that RCB’s dismal home record may ultimately prove to be their undoing. Chopra thinks that despite having a quality team, they may suffer in the forthcoming Indian Premier League since they can’t perform effectively at home.

“It will be the Chinnaswamy ground. This team’s record at home is very, very pedestrian. It is second from the bottom. Delhi has the worst record and Bangalore is also close by,” Aakash Chopra said.

“Josh Hazlewood is unavailable as of now. Glenn Maxwell is unavailable and Wanindu Hasaranga is not there. They invested a lot in him. Wanindu has been outstanding, but he is unavailable for this match. Rajat Patidar is also not there. So there are a lot of problems,” Aakash Chopra added.

“The batting order will be a focus of discussion”-  Aakash Chopra

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has expressed his concern over Mumbai Indians’ batting order, stating that it could be a topic of debate for the team management.  However, Chopra believes that the order in which they come out to bat could be a cause of concern for the team. He suggests that it is important for the team to ensure that they make the most of all their resources, and strike a balance between aggression and defence.

“The batting order will be a focus of discussion. Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and then Suryakumar Yadav or Tilak Varma. After that, Cameron Green is in the middle, and Tim David later. It is a slightly tricky situation for Mumbai this time,” Aakash Chopra further said.

“I believe if you have to get the best from Cameron Green, make him bat at No. 3 or get him to open. But if you do that, someone has to come down. You want to bat Surya at No. 3, Rohit and Ishan will open and Tilak Varma can be best used up the order. So who will go down the order?” Aakash Chopra further added.

In their previous encounter last year, Faf du Plessis and his team convincingly defeated the five-time champions by seven wickets.
