The Rajasthan Royals (RR) opening batter Jos Buttler responded to the criticism from commentators and said that it’s not a personal attack on the players. The Royals lost by 10 runs against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday, April 19.

Jos Buttler has been in brilliant form in the ongoing season, scoring 244 runs with an average of 40.67 and a strike rate of 146.99. The right-handed batter is second among the leading run scorers in the IPL 2023, behind Faf du Plessis. “Acceptance is a big part. Accepting that broadcaster pays someone to give their opinion. They’re just doing their job. It’s not a personal attack on me when they criticise me,” Jos Buttler said.

“And i watch other sports. I watch football and go ‘Oh how did he miss that?! ‘So easy. That’s exactly what people are doing when I drop a catch or go for a low score. I do the exactly same thing without realising while watching other sports. Just acceptance,” he added.

It’s A Dangerous Thing To Get Into – Jos Buttler

Reacting to how he handles outside noise, Jos Buttler said that he doesn’t pay much attention to social media. However, the England white-ball captain stated that he would find it more difficult to manage social media if he was a young player.

“More recently become father to two young girls so when you are being dad you just give it full attention. You can’t really do much else. I don’t read as much as I used to, comments on social media. And it’s a dangerous thing to get into. It doesn’t give me any energy so i don’t need to be bothered by it.”

“If I was a younger player coming through now it would be tougher with prevalence of social media. It’s a huge part of becoming a good player now how you deal with social media. How you can handle the extra noise and still do your job,” he added.

The Rajasthan Royals are at the top of the 10-team points table with 8 points and a NRR of +1.043. Jos Buttler will be next seen in action when the Rajasthan Royals take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, April 23.
