Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra slammed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) team management for sending Mayank Agarwal lower down the order in the batting line-up against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered a seven-wicket loss against the Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, April 21.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad scored just 134 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma and Harry Brook opened the innings against the Super Kings. Mayank Agarwal, who opened the innings in the first five innings, came to bat at No. 6. The right-handed batter scored two runs off four balls before being dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said that he didn’t understand the logic behind demoting Mayank Agarwal from opening to No. 6 in the batting order.
“When Hyderabad were asked to bat first, they did something different because Hyderabad have to do something different. They dropped Umran Malik in the last match and here they dropped Mayank Agarwal in the batting order. What is the logic behind sending Mayank Agarwal at No. 6? I don’t know,” Aakash Chopra said.

Going To Be Slightly Difficult For Harry Brook – Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra stated that Harry Brook would struggle against spinners on slow pitches, but he was dismissed against a fast bowler. The 45-year-old claimed Abhishek Sharma got off to a good start in his first match as an opener this season.
“They got Abhishek Sharma to open – that worked. It is going to be slightly difficult for Harry Brook on these pitches. He got out to pace here and there were extremely bright chances of him getting out to spin because it was a very slow pitch,” he added.

No One Was Striking The Ball Well With The Bat – Aakash Chopra
The cricketer-turned-commentator pointed out that Sunrisers Hyderabad struggles to score at a high strike rate. The SRH scored only 58 runs and lost five wickets in the last 10 overs of the innings.
“Whoever came after that, whether it was Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen and then Mayank Agarwal, no one scored runs. Everyone was going at a run-a-ball. No one was striking the ball well with the bat,” he concluded.
The Chennai-based team chased down the target with eight balls to spare in the innings. The opening batter Devon Conway shone with the bat and scored an unbeaten 77 runs off 57 balls, including 12 boundaries and a six. The young spinner Mayank Markande took two wickets and conceded just 23 runs in his four-over spell.
The Aiden Markram-led team managed to win only two matches out of six games in the IPL 2023. The Hyderabad-based franchise are in 9th place in the 10-team points table. They will take on the Delhi Capitals (DC) in their next match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday, April 24.
