The former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) head coach Tom Moody praised Harry Brook for his brilliant century against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday, April 14. The Hyderabad team beat the Knight Riders by 23 runs to register their second win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

The young batter Harry Brook scored an unbeaten century to help the Sunrisers Hyderabad put on a total of 228 runs for the loss of only four wickets. Brook became the first batter to register a century in the IPL 2023. The right-handed batter added crucial partnerships with skipper Aiden Markram and all-rounder Abhishek Sharma.

Unbelievable Innings – Tom Moody

During a conversation with ESPNcricinfo, Tom Moody described Harry Brook as a sensational talent, and he is the future of the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

“Unbelievable innings (on Harry Brook’s knock), and I don’t think there is any question about this young man’s ability. He is a sensational talent in all formats of the game. I think that’s one of the reasons he was sold out in the auction. I think people recognize not only he is a player for today; he is a player for the future,” Tom Moody said.

The Hyderabad-based franchise bought him for a whopping Rs 13.25 crore at the IPL 2023 mini-auction, following his success for England in international cricket.

The veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave a brilliant start to the team by dismissing Rahmanullah Gurbaz for duck in the first over. Macro Jansen dismissed Nitish Rana and Sunil Narine in successive balls in the third over, restricting KKR to 20/3. Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh continued their form and kept the fight till end, but they fell short by 23 runs in the chase.

The Aiden Markram-led team climbed to eighth place in the 10-team points table after the victory. The Hyderabad-based franchise will take on the Mumbai Indians (MI) in their next game at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Tuesday, April 18.
