However, the players from the SRH vs RR match were seen wearing black armbands around their arms, a sombre reminder of the passing of former India cricketer Salim Durani.

Durani, who passed away on the same day at the age of 88, was a well-known figure in Indian cricket. He played for India between 1960 to 1973 and was renowned for his explosive batting and left-arm spin bowling skills. He was also the only Indian cricketer to be born in Afghanistan, which made him an iconic figure in the country’s cricketing history.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time players have worn black armbands in the IPL to mourn the passing of a fellow cricketer. Last year, on May 15, players from both the Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings wore black armbands in memory of the former Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds, who had passed away a day earlier.

Salim Durani was a prominent cricket player who represented India in 29 Test matches, during which he scored 1202 runs with an average of 25, including one century and seven fifties. He was well-known for his powerful hitting abilities, having hit 126 fours and 15 sixes throughout his career.

Initially, Durani began his career as a bowler and went on to claim 75 Test wickets, with his best bowling figures being 6/73 in a single inning. However, he gradually transitioned into a top-order batsman and demonstrated his exceptional batting skills. Durani made his debut in 1960 against Australia and played his final international match in 1973 against England.
