Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya, these two names are catching so much heat of late that the heat in the Mumbai Indians fanbase doesn't seem to cool down. Amid tensions within the camp after losing 3 out of their first 3 IPL 2024 matches, Rohit and Hardik were seen smiling, clapping, and hugging each other during a short vacation trip of the MI team. It was organized by the franchise in order to possibly release some pressure off their players and also to utilize the 6-day gap they had in between their next league match.
Mumbai Indians had played their last match of the season on April 1 when they lost to Rajasthan Royals by 6 wickets, in what was their first home game of the season at Wankhede. And their next league match, their 5th, is going to take place on April 7th, Sunday in the afternoon clash of the weekend doubleheader. So in these 6 days, MI took all their players for a short trip, and therein, skipper Hardik Pandya along with Rohit Sharma, Tim David, and Ishan Kishan among others were captured enjoying the fun trip.
In the very first visual of the video shared on Mumbai Indians' official Instagram account, Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma were caught sharing a moment of brotherhood somewhere on an Island around Mumbai. The duo, especially Hardik, have been going through a lot since IPL 2024 has got off to a start, not just in the field but off the field as well.
Instead of improvement, things have only escalated negatively for the 5-time champions and they will be hoping to start staging a turnaround from Sunday onwards when they face 9th-placed Delhi Capitals, who are coming on the back of a terrible 106-run loss against Vishakhapatnam in their previous league match.
Hardik Pandya to try and help MI claim their maiden victory of IPL 2024 against Delhi Capitals
The clash against Delhi Capitals is a very important one and could be the one where Mumbai Indians will be able to register their first victory of the season. The Rishabh Pant-led side were without their key bowlers Mukesh Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav due to injury in their last match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Hardik Pandya and Co. must have seen the way KKR batters had thrashed the DC bowling attack and the 5-time champions can take inspiration from them.
That means it will be a great opportunity for former MI captain Rohit Sharma to stretch his arms in front of home support at the Wankhede. The Hitman enjoyed a good start in their opening match against Gujarat Titans, scoring 43 off 29, and then during MI's unsuccessful attempt of chasing down IPL's biggest-ever target, Rohit had scored just 26 off 12 before getting out for a duck against Rajasthan Royals.
Statistics also suggest that the Indian captain loves playing against Delhi Capitals as he has scored the most number of runs in this particular tie. In 26 matches since the 2008 season, Rohit has scored 792 runs whereas Jasprit Bumrah has the most wickets - 19 from 23 matches.
