The IPL Auction 2023 is all set to get underway in Kochi on December 23rd, 2022. While a lot of senior Indian players have been retained by the franchises, the younger Indian talent will be in focus given the limited purse value each team has for the IPL Auction 2023.
SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) have the biggest purse value remaining with an amount equalling INR 42.25 Crores while Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have the lowest balance which amounts to INR 7.05 Crores.
A total of 405 players will go under the hammer in the IPL auction 2023. Out of these, there are 19 players who have kept themselves in the Rs. 2 crore bracket. There are 11 players who in the Rs. 1.5 crores bracket. There are 20 players in the bracket of Rs. 1 crore.
All the franchises released some of the players in to add some important money ahead of the IPL auctions in 2023. Some big names were released and some were traded by the IPL franchises. Delhi Capitals traded Shardul Thakur to KKR, GT traded Rahmanullah Gurbaz to KKR, and Royal Challengers Bangalore dealt Jason Behrendorff to Mumbai Indians.

Hardik Pandya led Gujarat Titans to a spectacular start, by winning the trophy in their inaugural season. The swashbuckling Indian all-rounder became the buzz of the town after his leadership abilities shone through in the competition’s 2022 edition.
The defending champions have transferred Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz to KKR and released Dominic Drakes, Gurkeerat Singh, Jason Roy, and Varun Aaron, leaving the franchise with a purse value of INR 19.25 crore ahead of the IPL Auction next month.

IPL Auction 2023: Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
Chennai Super Kings, the four-time champions, have also made significant changes to their squad as they go in hunt for their fifth IPL title in 2023. Apart from adding some new players, CSK has also made some difficult decisions to release several players following a poor show in the 2022 season where they finished second-last on the points table.
It was a no-brainer to retain MS Dhoni for the 2023 season, despite all allegations, star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has also been retained.

In 2022, the Kolkata franchise which has been very consistent throughout, had one of its worst seasons, finishing 7th in the points table last season.
Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz were acquired by the Knight Riders in a trade with the IPL 2022 champions Gujarat Titans. Another notable trade was that of the Delhi Capitals pace bowler Shardul Thakur.

IPL Auction 2023: Delhi Capitals (DC)
The Delhi Capitals promised a lot but blew hot and cold throughout the season in the IPL last year, as they were knocked out of the playoffs race by the bottom-placed Mumbai Indians.
The Capitals had qualified for the playoffs in the previous three editions but struggled under the young leadership of Rishabh Pant. Shardul Thakur and Tim Seifert were released by the capital side, with the Shardul joining the KKR.

Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in IPL history, having won a record five titles. However, things have not gone their way in the last few seasons, with the 2022 season being the most forgettable, with MI finishing last.
They will be trying to refresh their roster in any way possible and have made some key retentions and releases ahead of the high-octane IPL 2023 auction, which is set to take place in Kochi on December 23. Pollard was released from the squad and will take up the coaching role.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have yet to win the title since the 2016 edition, despite being relatively consistent in making the playoffs over the years. However, it appeared to be a different story last year, and there have been some significant changes in their team.
Williamson led the franchise in the IPL 2022, and they had a mediocre season, finishing in the bottom half of the points table. With only 216 runs in 13 innings, the New Zealand batsman fell short of his expectations. SRH has decided to let him go before the IPL Auction 2023.

The franchise has failed to win an IPL trophy since the inaugural season and has been seeking it for a long time. In the previous season, Faf du Plessis was named the franchise’s captain, and the seasoned batter finished as the team’s leading run-scorer.
Virat Kohli had a shockingly poor season, whilst Rajat Patidar and Dinesh Karthik had a successful season last year. The Royal Challengers Bangalore transferred Australian left-arm seamer Jason Behrendorff to the Mumbai Indians before of the mini-auction.
