England and Sri Lanka face off in the third and final ODI at the County Ground in Bristol. The Three Lions put out a professional performance in the second game, winning the game by 8 wickets and also bagging the ODI series. This will be a dead rubber as far as England is concerned. England beat Sri Lanka in the T20I series 2-0 and is looking good to clean sweep them in the ODIs as well.
England have found new heroes in the first two games. While it was Chris Woakes with the ball in the first game, it was Sam Curran and David Willey in the second taking nine wickets together. With the bat, Joe Root scored the fifties in the first two games with skipper Eoin Morgan playing scoring an unbeaten 75 in the second game.
Sri Lanka are on the brink of an ODI series loss after their T20I series loss against the opponents earlier. They have just not been able to play as a unit. Their bowling group especially has not able to pick up wickets. They took five wickets in the first game and just two in the second. With the bat, they are yet to score 250 or above in the series. The Lankan team have their backs against the wall and needs to play out of their skin to pull one back.
Meanwhile, there are talks of some of the England players being rested for the third ODI while others being given a chance. All this is a part of England’s rotational policy which they have been favoring for quite some time now.
