TogglePAK vs NZ Match Prediction- Who Will Win Pakistan vs New Zealand 1st ODI? New Zealand and Pakistan are all set to locks horns in three one-day internationals and five T20Is, starting Friday. For those of you who don’t know, the Blackcaps will be touring Pakistan for a white-ball series in Pakistan after a gap of 18 years. The first one-day international between the two teams will be played on Friday at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
New Zealand recently played a T20 series against Bangladesh. In the absence of senior players such as Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, Tim Southee etc, a second-string team took on Bangladesh in their home conditions and went on to lose the series by a 2-3 margin.
The aforementioned names will be absent in the upcoming ODI series as well. Tom Latham will continue leading the team. He was the top-run getter in the T20 series against Bangladesh and would look to continue his good form with the bat. The batting unit further consists of Henry Nicholls, Finn Allen and Colin de Grandhomme etc.
Ajaz Patel was brilliant against Bangladesh and he is likely to make his ODI debut on Friday. He will share spin bowling duties with Ravindra and McConchie. Matt Henry has been included in the ODI series. He will strengthen the fast bowling unit, which also consists of Scott Kuggeleijn, Hamish Bennett etc.
Pakistan, on the other hand, would be delighted to play against New Zealand in their home conditions. They suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of England in their last ODI series and would be keen to make a strong comeback.
The Men in Green have announced their 12-man squad for the first ODI. Babar Azam will lead the unit, while Shadab Khan will be his deputy. The batting unit will have the likes of Fakhar Zaman, Imam Ul Haq, Iftikhar Ahmed and M Rizwan. Their strength, however, lies in the fast bowling department, which consists of Shaheen Afridi, Hasan Ali and Haris Rauf.
Pakistan’s 12-man squad for first match against New Zealand: Babar Azam (captain), Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Saud Shakil, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Usman Qadir, Zahid Mahmood
