Pakistan vs New Zealand Prediction- 1st ODI. New Zealand and Pakistan are all set to square up against each other in three ODIs and five T20 internationals. The limited over’s leg will begin with three ODIs, the first of which will be played on Friday at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
It is important to know that the upcoming three-match ODI series between Pakistan and New Zealand won’t be part of the ICC World Cup Super League due to the non-availability of DRS technology.
Pakistan would be delighted with the fact that they will be playing against New Zealand at their home. They have also announced their 12-member squad for the first ODI. Babar Azam will lead the unit, while M Rizwan will don the wicket-keeping gloves.
Both are two of the most consistent run-scorers for the side and once again the onus will be on them for scoring the bulk of the runs. Besides, the batting line-up consists of the likes of Fakhar Zaman, Imam Ul Haq and Iftikhar Ahmed.
The fast bowling department has prominent names such as Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hasan Ali and Haris Rauf. Shabad Khan will handle the spin bowling duties and one out of Usman Qadir or Zaid Mehmood is likely to play on Friday.
Pakistan last played one-day international series against England in the month of July. They suffered a 3-0 whitewash against a second-string England side. The upcoming series against New Zealand is going to be played in home conditions and Pakistan would want to make full use of that.
New Zealand, on the other hand, are coming into the series on the back of a 2-3 series defeat against Bangladesh. New Zealand will continue to miss out on big names such as Kane Williamson, Martin Guptill, Trent Boult and Tim Southee to name a few.
Tom Latham would lead a second-string team. The onus of scoring runs will majorly be on the shoulders of Fin Allen, Latham and Henry Nicholls. Ajaz Patel, who was the leading wicket-taker in the T20 series against Bangladesh, is likely to make his ODI debut.
He is likely to share spin bowling duties with Ravindra and McConchie. The inclusion of Matt Henry would strengthen the fast bowling unit, which consists of Scott Kuggelejin, Hamish Bennett etc.
New Zealand’s squad looks good overall and one could expect a great game of cricket on Friday.
