SL vs SA Match Prediction- Who Will Win Sri Lanka vs South Africa 3rd T20I? Sri Lanka exhibited a stellar batting performance in the recently concluded ODI series against South Africa. However, they haven’t been able to replicate similar performances in the ongoing T20Is. In pursuit of a 163-run total in the first T20I, they were could only manage to score 135 in the second innings.
Sri Lanka batted first in the second T20 international on Sunday, however, their performance was even worse with the bat. Shanaka and Co. were bowled out for a paltry 103-run total in the first innings. Kusal Perera made his comeback in the side after recovery from Covid-19 and played some great shots while opening the batting.
He helped the side get a good start in the powerplay overs. At the end of the powerplay overs, Sri Lanka had lost two wickets for 52 runs. Rajapaksa, who gave great company to Perera, hit 3 fours and 1 sixes during his explosive 13-ball 20 run cameo before handing a straightforward catch to Aiden Markram in the fifth over of the innings. The way he was timing the ball, Sri Lanka could have reached a competitive score. However, he, unfortunately, got out early in the innings.
Sri Lanka lost their way after that as wickets kept falling in short intervals. They succumbed to the introduction of spinners from both ends. The number one T20 bowler, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Aiden Markram picked 6 wickets between them as Sri Lanka found themselves in trouble at 100 for 7 in 15.3 overs.
The middle-order comprising of Dhananjaya de Silva (4 off6), Shanaka (10 off 8), and Aslanka (14 off 20) didn’t inspire any optimism. Kusal Perera top-scored with the bat, scoring 30 off 25 balls. Sri Lanka, eventually, were bowled out for 103 runs in 18.1 overs.
South Africa chased down the target in just 14.1 overs, thanks to another match-winning 58-run knock from Quinton de Kock. The southpaw didn’t let Sri Lanka make a comeback in the game as he scored boundaries all across the ground. He played an unbeaten knock of 58 runs off 48 deliveries, including 7 fours. Aiden Markram remained unbeaten at 21 off 19 balls.
With that win, South Africa sealed the series 2-0. Also, this is their third consecutive T20 series win. They will surely be going into the T20 World Cup with a lot of confidence. However, for now, they would be keen to win the final match of the series. The third T20 international is scheduled to be played on Tuesday at R Premadasa Stadium.
