Sri Lanka will play against South Africa in the second of the three-match ODI series on Sunday. Sri Lanka would be riding high on confidence after winning the T20 series by a 2-1 margin. They would be pretty satisfied with their performances and would be eager to win the T20 series as well. They played their last T20 series against India, which they won by 2-1.

Wanindu Hasaranga made headlines with his outstanding performances. He was the highest wicket-taker in the series with 7 wickets in 3 matches. He will, once again, be Sri Lanka’s biggest bet in the bowling department. Hasaranga will be supported by the likes of Akila Dananjaya and Rajapaksa in the spin-bowling department.

Dushmantha Chameera would lead the pace bowling department. He picked 4 wickets in 3 matches in the recently concluded ODI series. The likes of Avishka Fernando, Dhanajaya de Silva, Rajapaksa and Asalanka will hold key in batting.

Charith Asalanka has been outstanding with the bat in the last two series. He scored 196 runs in 3 matches against South Africa at an average of 65.33. Kusal Perera is likely to make a comeback if he is deemed fit to play.

South Africa, on the other hand, wouldn’t be too happy after losing the final match of the ODI series. Nevertheless, they would be keen to exhibit a stronger performance in the T20 series. The Proteas would be bolstered with the return of Quinton de Kock and David Miller in the team. Besides, the presence of Aiden Markram, Janneman Malan, Reeza Hendricks, and Russie Van der Dussen make it a strong batting unit.

In the spin bowling department, they have Tabraiz Shamsi, who has picked the most number of wickets in T20 internationals in 2021. He has 24 wickets at an economy of less than 6. Besides, big names such as Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, and Lungi Ngidi further make it a strong bowling unit. South Africa won the last T20 series against Ireland by 3-0 and they would be keen to continue the momentum.
