Sri Lanka vs South Africa Prediction- 3rd T20I. South Africa registered a clinical 9-wicket win in the second T20 international against Sri Lanka to seal the series 2-0 on Sunday. This is South Africa’s third consecutive T20 series win. With T20 World Cup coming ahead, South Africa would be riding high on confidence.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, have lost both the matches played thus far in the series, with one game left in the series. They have a lot to introspect as far as the individual performances and team combination is concerned.
Sri Lanka won the toss in the second T20 international against South Africa and opted to bat first. Kusal Perera and Rajapaksa played some beautiful shots and gave Sri Lanka a good-looking start in the powerplay. Thanks to the duo, Sri Lanka had managed 52 runs in the first six overs.
However, once spinners were applied from both ends, Sri Lanka faltered. B Rajapaksa got out after making 20 in 13 balls, while the likes of Dhananjaya de Silva (4 off 6), Shanaka (10 off 8), and Asalanka (14 off 20) succumbed without making a significant contribution.
Kusal Perera, who made his comeback into the side after recovering from covid, top-scored with 30 off 25. He would be disappointed to not have played till the end. Markram and Tabraiz Shamsi both picked three wickets each, while Fortuin claimed two. Thanks to a brilliant display by South African spinners, Sri Lanka were folded for 103 runs in the first innings.
Sri Lanka couldn’t build any pressure in the second innings as Quinton de Kock looked pleased with the bat. The southpaw scored boundaries all across the ground and helped the team chase down the total in just 14.1 overs. He played an unbeaten 58-run knock off 48 deliveries, including 7 fours. Reeza Hendricks scored 18 off 19, while Markram remained unbeaten at 21 off 19 balls.
South Africa and Sri Lanka will play the third and final match of the T20 series on Tuesday at R Premadasa Stadium. The upcoming match will be South Africa’s last game before the start of their T20 World Cup campaign. Sri Lanka, however, will play two matches against Oman before participating in the perennial tournament.
