Sri Lanka vs South Africa- Today Match Prediction, 2nd ODI. Sri Lanka took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series after beating South Africa in the first ODI by 14 runs on Thursday. After batting first, Sri Lanka scored 300 runs in as many deliveries in the first innings. Avishka Fernando was the star performer with the bat. He scored the third half-century of his ODI career, scoring 118 runs off 115 balls.

There were significant contributions from Dhananjaya de Silva and Asalanka as well, who scored 44 and 72 respectively. Sri Lanka didn’t make a great start as Bhanuka and Rajapaksa got out in the 12th and 13th over of the innings. Avishka Fernando, however, held firm and stitched valuable partnerships with Dhananjaya de Silva and Asalanka. He added 79 runs with Dhananjaya before stitching a 97-run stand with Asalanka.

Thanks to vital contributions from the trio, Sri Lanka notched a 300-run total in the first innings. Keshav Maharaj was outstanding for his figures of 2 for 30 in 10 overs. The seamer, though, was expensive.

South Africa didn’t lose any wicket in the first 9 overs of the second innings. Janneman Malan was the first one to go in the 10th over for 23 off 31. His partner, Aiden Markram, however, looked pleasant right through the innings. He stitched valuable partnerships with Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen to keep South Africa in the contest. Markram ended up scoring 96 runs off just 90 deliveries, including 5 fours and 4 sixes. Rassie Van Der Dussen also had a great day with the bat.

He scored 59-ball 59, which had 6 fours. However, once he got out in the 46th over, South Africa fell short of batsmen who could take the team home. With 41 needed in the last 25 balls, Klaasen and Andile Phehlukwayo couldn’t guide the team home. Sri Lanka, in the end, managed to win the game by 14 runs. Akila Dhananjaya picked 2 for 65 in 10 overs, while Hasaranga, Karunaratne, and Jayawickrama picked one wicket apiece.
