Mohammed Siraj gave a sensational start to India, nipping out three New Zealand wickets in Mumbai in his opening spell. The third of which, that of Ross Taylor, came by an almost unplayable delivery.

It was a perfect delivery bowled on a good length. It hit the pitch on its seam, and nipped away just a fraction, lulling Taylor into a defensive shot. The batsman played down the wrong line, expecting the ball to further come in.

The ball, however, seamed away from Taylor, beating him on the outside edge and went on to hit the top of the off-stump, which got uprooted and lay flat on the ground as Mohammed Siraj and the Indians celebrated.

India take 4 after Ajaz Patel 10-fer

New Zealand have been rattled in the first 10 overs of their innings as India have claimed 4 early wickets.

Mohammed Siraj snapped up the first three scalps: Will Young was caught in the slip by Virat Kohli after the pacer had him squared up with a terrific delivery; Tom Latham pulled one straight to deep square leg before Ross Taylor was castled with a dream ball.

Axar Patel, in his second over, dismissed Daryl Mitchell lbw. Mitchell reviewed the on-field umpire’s decision, but the decision stayed as he was trapped plumb in front.

Earlier, spinner Ajaz Patel recorded history by becoming only the third bowler – after Jim Laker and Anil Kumble – to pick all 10 wickets in a Test innings. He had taken 4 wickets on Day 1 and snared the rest 6 wickets on Day 2, to single-handedly bowl India out for 325.
