IND vs NZ, 2021: Ishant Sharma Dislocates His Finger While Fielding On Day 5 Of Kanpur Test

Indian pacer Ishant Sharma has very likely dislocated his finger while fielding on Day 5 of the first Test against New Zealand.

The final day got underway in the morning with New Zealand needing 280 more runs to win the Kanpur Test. On the very first ball of the morning, Ishant dove to stop a ball at short fine leg and jammed his little finger onto the ground. He was in visible pain and the physio made his way out to the middle.

Ishant had to walk off the field for further treatment on his left hand. The 33-year-old then came back after an over as the injury was on his non-bowling hand. It was good news for India as the pacer is essential in the home side’s quest to get the nine remaining wickets of the Kiwis.

Ravichandran Ashwin and co. crucial to India’s chances of victory on Day 5

The Indian spinners led by Ravichandran Ashwin will hold the aces going into the final day of the first Test. The track has slowed down even further and with the odd ball keeping low here and there, the spinners are likely to have a good time out in the middle.

Axar Patel took a fifer in the first innings and skipper, Ajinkya Rahane will be hoping that the left-arm tweaker can deliver the goods on the final day. The Kiwis are unlikely to go after the daunting target and are more likely to bat the day out in the hopes of securing a draw.
