Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of both ODI and Test series against Bangladesh and wasn’t considered for the Sri Lanka limited overs series. Ravindra Jadeja has recovered from his knee surgery. Jasprit Bumrah may also return for the New Zealand series. The duo, who have been on the sidelines for a long time, will not be rushed back into the national team.

Shikhar Dhawan has not been included in the Indian team drawn up for their upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Another key exclusion from both the white-ball teams is Rishabh Pant, who has struggled to find his feet in the shorter formats. Veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was axed from India’s ODI and T20I squads named for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.

Jasprit Bumrah has been added to India’s ODI squad for the three-match series against Sri Lanka. The fast bowler has been out of action since September last year because of a stress reaction in his back, and he’s been rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru since then.

IND vs SL: India Squad for Sri Lanka ODIs: Rohit Sharma (C), Hardik Pandya (VC), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah.

32 years old veteran pacer Mohammed Shami may retire from ODIs-50 overs format. His figures in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2022 were also questionable as he let go of several runs irrespective of the opposition (economy-7.15). Mohammad Shami also looked off-color in the 2022 T20 World Cup picking 6 scalps in as many games averaging 23.83.

The senior pacer was on everyone’s wish list after he performed exceedingly well in the Indian Premier League 2022 (20 scalps in 16 games averaging 24.4). However, it looks like Mohammed Shami gave his best during the franchise-based tournament and did not manage to stand up in the all-important 2022 T20 WC Semis against England (0/39 in 3 overs).

His last appearance in ODIs came on the England tour.  He has picked 152 scalps in 82 ODIs averaging 25.72. The 32-year pacer may retire after the IND vs NZ ODIs if the team management is against his inclusion in the 2023 ODI World Cup. This IND vs NZ ODIs could be his last ODI series if he fails to perform up to expectations.
