IND vs NZ: 3 Indian Players Who Can Replace Jasprit Bumrah In The ODI Squad. Indian unit has been struggling with their bowling unit because of injury concerns. Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action since September because of a stress reaction in his back.

But his recovery had gone satisfactorily, according to the BCCI, which had initially included him in the squad for Sri Lanka ODIs. But he was later ruled out of the ODI series against Sri Lanka on fitness grounds.

Jasprit Bumrah would require three more weeks of rest before he starts bowling at full tilt again, effectively ruling him out of the first half of the Australia Test series, starting on February 9 besides IND vs NZ T20I and ODI series. Jasprit Bumrah is unlikely to feature in the entire New Zealand limited-overs series and at least the first couple of Test matches against Australia.

Jasprit Bumrah was withdrawn from Sri Lanka ODIs on the eve of the series opener Guwahati after the right-arm seamer felt discomfort in his back.

Chetan Sakariya

Chetan Sakariya, 24, made a name for himself during IPL 2021, playing for Rajasthan Royals, and had turned out in an ODI and two T20Is so far in the Sri Lankan tour while also playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022.

Chetan Sakariya had played 1 ODI and 2 T20I in the 2021 Sri Lankan tour picking 3 scalps overall besides picking 17 scalps in as many IPL games in 2021 and 2022 averaging 30. He may be drafted in place of Jasprit Bumrah in the IND vs NZ ODI series.

Kuldeep Sen

Kuldeep Sen, the right-arm fast bowler from Madhya Pradesh was picked up by Rajasthan Royals for INR 20 lakhs in IPL 2022 auctions and he did well picking 8 scalps in 7 games averaging 29.63 with a best of 4/20.

His performances earned him a place in the Indian team. He debuted in the 1st ODI against Bangladesh and picked 2/37 in the only ODI he has played to date before suffering an injury that ruled him out of the ODI series.

Due to a stiff back, the India pacer did not get selected for the second ODI against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka.

The Rewa-born speedster had flown back to India for rehabilitation at National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. If fit, he will play a crucial role in Rajasthan Royal’s success in IPL 2023. He may be drafted in place of Jasprit Bumrah in the IND vs NZ ODI series.

Shivam Mavi

Shivam Mavi debuted in the T20I series against Sri Lanka. He had a dream debut in the 1st T20I, where he picked 4/ 22 in 4 overs removing the likes of Pathum Nissanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Maheesh Theekshana.

He bowled only one over in the 3rd T20I, which went for six runs. He took a superb running catch to dismiss Charith Asalanka though. In the 2nd T20I, he was a bit clueless conceding 53 runs in 4 wicketless overs.

In 3 T20Is in the IND vs SL series, he picked 4 scalps-all in the 1st T20I averaging 20.25 at an economy of 9 runs per over in his maiden international series. He may be drafted in place of Jasprit Bumrah in the IND vs NZ ODI series.
