IND vs NZ: Watch – Massive Controversy Erupts As Hardik Pandya Given Out By 3rd Umpire Suspiciously

The 29-year-old India National Cricket Team all-rounder Hardik Pandya was adjusted out controversially by the third umpire KN Ananthapadmanabhan in the first ODI of the three-match series against the Tom Latham-led New Zealand National Cricket Team at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad on Wednesday, January 18.

Hardik Pandya came out to bat after the dismissal of the middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav in the 29th over. He didn’t play an aggressive brand of cricket, instead, he played cautiously and scored 28 runs off 38 balls, with 3 fours, before being controversially declared out by the third umpire. Hardik Pandya also added 74 runs in 67 balls with Shubman Gill.

The controversial dismissal occurred on the 4th ball of the 40th over, which was bowled by the batting all-rounder Daryl Mitchell. Mitchell delivered a good length ball, pitching outside off-stump and Hardik tried to play the ball fine, but the extra bounce meant that he missed it completely. The ball went into wicket-keeper Tom Latham’s gloves and the bails were also dislodged.

New Zealand appealed for a bowled dismissal, but neither the players nor the wicket-keeper was sure about the dismissal. The decision went upstairs and on the UltraEdge it showed there was no connection between the bat and the ball.

When the split screen was shown, it looked like the ball didn’t disturb the bails and the bails have been dislodged off the gloves of wicket-keeper Latham. However, the third umpire made the decision in New Zealand’s favor and declared Hardik out.

Hardik Pandya looked quite disappointed as he walked off the field and even the New Zealand players were surprised to see the decision being made in their favor.
