The 28-year-old New Zealand National Cricket Team batter Mark Chapman got run out in the second T20I against India National Cricket Team after a terrible mix-up with the 31-year-old all-rounder Michael Bracewell at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday, January 29.

Mark Chapman came out to bat after the dismissal of opening batsman Finn Allen in the 4th over, which was bowled by senior leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.

Chapman didn’t look comfortable at all in the middle against the strong Indian bowling attack and he scored poor 14 runs off 21 balls, before getting run out in the 13th over. Notably, he wasn’t able to smash a single boundary in his 21-ball innings.

The 28-year-old got run out on the 4th ball of the 13th over, which was bowled by all-rounder Deepak Hooda. Hooda delivered a length ball to Chapman pitching on the off-stump.

The BlackCaps batter tried to play a reverse sweep and he ended up top-edging the ball aerially towards the short third man. Kuldeep at short third didn’t attempt a diving catch and he went down on his knees to stop the ball and then quickly threw it to the wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan.

There was a ‘yes-no, yes-no’ between Chapman and Bracewell and Chapman was in the middle of the pitch when Kuldeep lobbed the ball to the keeper. Before Chapman could return to the crease the wicket-keeper easily knocked off the bails to run the batter out.

New Zealand Batters Fail Miserably In 2nd T20I

Earlier, New Zealand National Cricket Team won the toss and elected to bat first in the match. The decision, however, backfired as no Kiwi batter was able to play a good knock against India and all the batters looked clueless against the strong spin-bowling attack of the hosts.

Hardik Pandya opened the attack against the Kiwi openers and conceded 6 runs in the over. Washington Sundar bowled a 4-run second over and Pandya bowled an 11-run third over.

Yuzvendra Chahal cleaned up Finn Allen for 11 in the fourth over and delivered a wicket-maiden while Washington Sundar dismissed Devon Conway for 11 in the next over, conceding 8 runs. In the 6th over, Chahal gave away just 4 runs and at the end of the powerplay, the BlackCaps were at 33/2.

Deepak Hooda dismissed Glenn Phillips for 5 in the 7th over and Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Daryl Mitchell for 8 in the 10th over. Then, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and the BlackCaps were restricted to 99/8 in 20 overs.
