Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium will host the IND vs NZ second T20I on January 29. New Zealand won the first T20I by 21 runs and are leading the three-match series 1-0. Hardik Pandya’s side needs to win the second T20I to keep the series alive.

India were completely outplayed in the first IND vs NZ T20I. They had the game in control till the first 19 overs but Arshdeep Singh’s 27-run 20th over rested back the momentum to New Zealand. His expensive over once again exposed India’s death over concerns in the shortest format.

Daryl Mitchell and Devon Conway scored fifties to take the Kiwis to 176/6 in their 20 overs. Fin Allen gave the visitors an explosive start to give them the momentum as well. India pulled things back in the middle-overs but Arshdeep Singh’s 20th over released all the pressure.

India were in the hunt in the chase till Suruakumar Yadav was at the wicket. Once he was dismissed, India lost the edge in the chase. Washington Sundar’s 50 came a little too late for the Men in Blue. The top-order failed to give India a good start in the chase. This is where the management might look towards Prithvi Shaw who was picked in the squad after his good run of form in domestic cricket.

So far 8 T20Is have been played in Lucknow with five matches won by the team batting first and three while chasing. All the focus will be on the Lucknow pitch, especially after the kind of turn the Ranchi wicket generated. Mohammed Kaif in the post-match discussion said that the Lucknow track would have a lot less spin than Ranchi.

Dew will also be an important factor in the game. India won the toss and chose to chase in Ranchi. They might want to bat first in Lucknow.

Talking about the weather, the second IND vs NZ T20I starts at 7 pm IST. The temperature in the afternoon will be around 24 degrees which will drop down to 15 degrees in the evening and the skies will clear out. There will be no chance of rain but humidity will be around 73 percent.
