Team India takes on New Zealand in a three-match ODI series followed by a three-match T20I series after winning the ODI series against Sri Lanka. The series kicks off with the first ODI in Hyderabad on January 18. The Kiwis are the top-ranked ODI side heading into this series while Team India are placed fourth. The series also continues the preparations for both teams for the ODI World Cup later this year. 

The second and third ODI will be played in Raipur (January 21) and Indore (January 24). Both teams then play a three-match T20I series. The T20Is will be played in Ranchi (January 27), Lucknow (January 29), and Ahmedabad (February 1) respectively.

Both teams have announced their ODI squads. Rohit Sharma will lead the Men in Blue while Tom Latham will lead the Kiwis. Most of the players who played in the ODI series against Sri Lanka have been named for the series against New Zealand

New Zealand last played an ODI series against India in November 2022. They won the first ODI in Auckland. The next two in Hamilton and Christchurch were washed out due to rain. The upcoming series will once again spice up the rivalry between both sides.

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the series with a last-minute back injury. He has been sent back to the NCA for rehabilitation. Rajat Patidar has been named as his replacement. The hosts will also be without KL Rahul and Axar Patel which opens up opportunities for a few others players to get a look in. Rohit Sharma will continue to open the batting in the New Zealand series. He scored 142 runs in the three ODIs against Sri Lanka with a top score of 83. He is looking for form and also his 30th ODI ton. Rohit has not been included in the T20I series against the Kiwis. He struggled to score runs across formats in 2022 scoring 249 runs in 8 ODIs last year.
