It seems like India’s quest for the number four slot has finally ended. The right-handed, Ambati Rayudu is in scintillating form and is very confident of doing well for the team. The stylish batsman spoked his heart out in the press conference ahead of the second ODI game against the Windies in Visakhapatnam.

However, India tried as many as 7-8 members for the number four slot. Meanwhile, Ambati Rayudu has shown good status with his fluency in the Asia Cup 2018 and also remained unbeaten in India’s victory against the Windies in Guwahati.

I was always in contention – Ambati Rayudu

Although Ambati Rayudu’s name took a boost in IPL 2018, the Hyderabad skipper quoted he was always remained in the line to seal the place in Indian team. However, he cited the injuries had dented his chances.

Further, he also added the Indian Premier League has been an excellent platform to get the exposure. Meanwhile, he also spoke on the berth for the upcoming 2019 World Cup.

“To be very honest, I am just focused on this series at the moment and not really thinking too far ahead. I don’t think it is new for me as I have been batting in the middle order for long. There is nothing new that they have asked me to do. I don’t think yo-yo test had any bearing on how I was preparing or how I was going about my fitness,” he said.

”Even now I am going to the NCA, there is a small pocket of free time for a week and I am happy that I cleared the test. “I think even before the IPL, it’s not that I was not in contention. It’s just that I had few injuries. IPL was a good platform to come back strong, especially on my fitness,” Ambati Rayudu quoted.

Windies bowled well in first ODI:

Meanwhile, Ambati Rayudu lauded Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for their brilliance in the first ODI. He highlighted that fact the Windies bowlers delivered well but the Indian duo outshined them.

“Obviously it’s great that top three are doing so well for India It’s a challenge for the middle order to always be ready to get in and bat. I am sure everybody is up for it, everybody knows the situation. It’s just one game (the first ODI in Guwahati), I think they bowled really well and it’s just that Virat and Rohit batted brilliantly. They will pose a good challenge in the coming games,” he concluded.

However, it has been pretty good to hear that Ambati Rayudu is confident of doing well in the middle-order. Meanwhile, the emergence of Ambati Rayudu will certainly take away the huge pressure on Indian shoulders.
