PCB To Relieve Sarfaraz Ahmed Of Test Captaincy Duties - Reports

The Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to relieve Sarfaraz Ahmed of the Test captaincy duties, as reported by Geo news. In fact, the news comes a day after when Sarfaraz Ahmed told the media that he has no intention to quit the Test captaincy. Sarfaraz Ahmed has led Pakistan in 13 Test matches in which the team has won on four occasions.

Pakistan has lost eight matches under the captaincy of Sarfaraz Ahmed. Meanwhile, after the completion of the World Cup, there have been many talks about the captaincy of Sarfaraz Ahmed. Pakistan had failed to make their way into the semifinal of the World Cup and thus many former players had suggested that Sarfaraz Ahmed should be sacked from the captaincy role.

Shan Masood can be Pakistan’s next Test captain.

The Geo News has reported that the Pakistan board wants to appoint a new captain before the Test championship kickstarts. The PCB cricket committee will discuss the matter in the meeting which is scheduled to be held on August 2 in Lahore.

In fact, the report states that there is a strong chance that the captaincy baton can be given to Shan Masood. The left-handed batsman has scored 793 runs in the 15 Test matches at an average of 26.43. The southpaw batsman has scored one century and he also has the experience of leading National bank. The left-hander played the last Test series against South Africa in which he scored two fifties.

In fact, it is reported that some officials in the Pakistan Cricket Board have raised objections regarding Shan Massod’s appointment. However, the think tank has taken the decision in principle. Pakistan will tour Australia in November.

The Pakistan national cricket team will play two Test matches on the Tour Down Under with the first Test match to be scheduled on 21 November. Pakistan will also play three Test matches against England.
