Islamabad United take on Multan Sultans in the 7th match of the Pakistan Super League 2022 on Monday at National Stadium in Karachi. Islamabad United have made a brilliant start to their campaign, having registered a clinical 9-wicket win over Peshawar Zalmi on Sunday.
Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf bowled with perfection in the power play and reduced Peshawar Zalmi to 35 for 4. However, the bowlers failed to continue picking wickets thereafter and the Zalmi, eventually, managed to post a competitive 168-run total on the board.

Both Hasan Ali (2 for 34) and Faheem Ashraf (2 for 23) returned with impressive numbers. However, the likes of Mohammad Wasim Jr (1 for 37 in 4 overs) and de Lange (0 for 29 in 3 overs) endured forgettable outings.
However, for Islamabad United, the chase turned out to be a walk in the park. Paul Sterling and Alex Hales gave the team a sensational start in pursuit of the total. In the first six overs, the duo scored as many as 78 runs without any loss of wickets.

Paul Sterling played one of the finest knocks in the history of PSL. He brought up his half-century in just 18 balls, giving the team a sensational start. He eventually ran himself out in the 10th over after scoring 57 runs in 25 deliveries.
Alex Hales, however, stayed till the end and guided the team home in 15.5 overs. Hales has begun his campaign with a match-winning unbeaten knock of 82 runs in 54 balls, a knock which was laced with 13 fours and 1 six. Ahead of the next game on Tuesday, Islamabad, United would look to carry on the winning momentum.

Facing them are Multan Sultans, who too have made a sensational start to their campaign. They restricted Karachi Kings to just 124 runs in their first match, thanks to a sensational spell from Imran Tahir. However, the Sultans couldn’t replicate a similar performance in their second game against Lahore Qalandars.
Fakhar Zaman tore apart Multan Sultans’ bowling unit as Lahore Qalandars notched a mammoth 206-run total in the first innings. The batting unit, led by the opening pair of Shan Masood and M Rizwan, however, didn’t disappoint as Multan Sultans managed to chase it down in 19.4 overs.

Shan Masood and M Rizwan stitched a brilliant 150-run partnership for the first wicket. Masood scored 83 runs in 50 deliveries, while M Rizwan amassed 69 runs in 42 balls. However, once both the players got out, the scoring rate got affected and the equation eventually came down to 16 needed in the final over. Khushdil Shah then scored 18 runs in just 4 deliveries to help the team secure a brilliant win.
