Karachi Kings are languishing at the bottom of the table as they have lost all four matches played in the tournament so far. Babar Azam needs to turn it around quickly if they still fancy a chance to reach the playoffs.

They suffered a 9-run defeat at the hands of Peshawar Zalmi in their last game. In pursuit of a 173-run total set by the Zalmis, Babar Azam played a standout knock of 90 runs in 63 balls, which included 12 fours and 1 six. However, he got found little contribution from the other batsmen.

Ian Cockbain played aggressively for his 19-ball 31 but couldn’t convert the start into a big score. Other than that, there wasn’t any useful contribution from the batsmen. Karachi Kings, in the end, fell 9 runs short of the target.

The bowlers weren’t up to the mark either. Barring U Asif, no one looked threatening. Asif picked three wickets but other than that, Karachi Kings had no one to fall back to. The likes of I Wasim (0 for 30), L Gregory (0 for 10 in 4 overs) and M Imran (0 for 40) all had forgettable outings with the ball.

On the other hand, Islamabad United are playing top-class cricket at the moment. At the time of writing, they are sitting at number two on the points table with 2 wins in 3 matches. Islamabad United put in a dominant all-round performance in the last game against Quetta Gladiators.

The batting unit contributed collectively and, as a result of that, they managed to score 229 runs in the first innings. Paul Sterling and Alex Hales made 58 (28) and 22 (9) respectively.

His heroic spell helped the team bundle out Quetta Gladiators to 186 runs in the second innings. Hasan Ali and M Wasim Jr. picked two wickets each as well.
