Karachi Kings take on Quetta Gladiators in the fourth match of the PSL 2022 on Saturday at National Stadium in Karachi. Karachi Kings haven’t made a great start to the campaign.

They played their first game of this season on Thursday against Multan Sultans. Against a solid bowling performance from the defending champions, Karachi Kings could only manage to score 124 runs in the first innings.

Sharjeel Khan batted brilliantly as he scored 43 runs in 31 balls. He stitched a 66-run partnership with Babar Azam for the opening wicket. However, once he got out, Karachi Kings lost the plot as no other batsmen got going.

Babar Azam consumed 29 deliveries for his 23-run knock. Joe Clarke (26 off 24) failed to convert the start into a big score. As a result, Karachi Kings could only manage to score 124 runs in the first innings.

The bowlers didn’t have too many runs to defend. Karachi needed early breakthroughs but didn’t get any. The likes of Aamer Yamin and M Imran failed to pick a single wicket in the innings.

M Nabi bowled well and also picked two wickets. However, he was brought a bit late into the innings as the match had already gone out of the hands of Multan Sultans. It will be interesting to see if Karachi Kings make any change in the playing XI for the next game on Saturday.

Quetta Gladiators, on the other hand, will be playing their second game this year. They had a forgettable outing last year, having finished at the bottom of the points table. In 10 matches, they could only win 8 games. The Sarfaraz Ahmed and Co. would be hopeful of a better performance this year.

Quetta Gladiators have got a fantastic batting line-up. In James Vince and Jason Roy, the Gladiators have got two of the best power-hitters in the game. The duo, however, isn’t available due to international commitments.

They will join the squad later. Shimron Hetmyer has been included as the partial replacement for Jason Roy. He will be used as a designated finisher for the team and will be supported by the likes of Iftikhar Ahmed, Sarfaraz Ahmed, etc in the middle-order.

Among all the notable names in the team, Ben Duckett will be the player to watch out for. He has been in blistering form and the team would hope that he replicates similar performances in PSL as well. Other notable inclusions are James Faulkner and Shahid Afridi. The duo will add the required depth in the batting unit.

Afridi will also carry the spin workload along with Mohammad Nawaz. As far as the pace department is concerned, the team would be banking on the services of M Hasnain, Naseem Shah, and James Faulkner. One can expect all three to make it into the playing XI for the first game against Karachi.
