It was a dream come true for Lahore Qalandars who defeated Multan Sultans in the final of PSL 2022 to lift the trophy for the first time. After the match, a sweet gesture of Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan attracted the attention of many fans. Both the rival captains hugged each other after the match.

Multan Sultans, led by Mohammad Rizwan, were the favourites to win the title as they were the most consistent team in PSL 2022. Multan Sultans topped the points table with 18 points after winning 9 matches out of 10. They also defeated Shaheen Afridi-led Lahore Qalandars in Qualifier to become the first team to qualify for PSL 2022 final. However, they lost the final by 42 runs and finished as runners-up.

Shaheen Afridi Hugs Mohammad Rizwan After PSL 2022 Final

A video of Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan is doing the rounds on social media. After winning the match by 42 runs, Shaheen Afridi met his rival captain at the stadium. Both the Pakistan teammates hugged each other. Fans touted the event as the best moment of the tournament. Have a look at the video below.

Lahore Qalandars, who never managed to reach qualifiers in the past editions of the Pakistan Super League, won the title this time. Opting to bat first, they posted a mammoth total of 180-5 on the scoreboard. Top-order batsmen Fakhar Zaman (3), Abdullah Shafique (14), Zeeshan Ashraf (7) could not come up with big scores.

However, later Mohammad Hafeez slammed 69 runs off 46 balls while Harry Brook came up with a 22-ball-41. David Wiese also slammed a quickfire 28 runs off 8 balls to come up with a brilliant cameo towards the end.

Later, Multan Sultans were bowled out for just 138 runs in the second innings. Khushdil Shah was the top scorer for the team with 32 runs while Tim David hit 27 runs. Shaheen Afridi grabbed 3 wickets, Mohammad Hafeez and Zaman Khan grabbed 2 scalps each to restrict Multan Sultans from any chance of victory.

Lahore Qalandars won the match by 42 runs to clinch the PSL 2022 title. Mohammad Hafeez won the player of the match award for his excellent all-rounder show.
