Pakistan National Cricket Team captain Babar Azam has stated that a player is always under constant criticism at the international level whether he performs or not. The 28-year-old premier batter is currently involved in the ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he is the skipper of the Peshawar Zalmi franchise.
Under his leadership, Peshawar Zalmi are set to lock horns with Shadab Khan’s Islamabad United in the Eliminator 1 on Thursday at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Despite his ton against Quetta Gladiators, Babar faced heavy criticism for his performance in the match with many labelling his innings as ‘selfish’. Also, Simon Doull called out the Peshawar Zalmi skipper for slowing down while getting closer to his century.

Meanwhile, Babar Azam has said that making changes to the batting takes time, but people want “things to get right immediately, which is not possible”.
“Criticism is always there, whether you perform or not. Everyone has their own opinion. I think when you find any fault in your batting, it takes some time. People want things to get right immediately, which is not possible,” Babar was quoted as saying to Cricket Pakistan.
My father rarely gets satisfied with my performance – Babar Azam
Babar Azam further said that practising hard is the key to success and he doubles his practice when he struggles to perform in the matches. He also revealed why his father never gets satisfied with his performances.
“I think you can only perform in the match when you practice hard. I play 500-600 balls daily during my practice. Even double balls when I am out of form. I believe practice is so important for anyone who wants to perform on the ground,” he stated.
“My father rarely gets satisfied with my performance because he doesn’t want me to take things for granted. He always tries to give me some advice so that I can get better and better. Now, he sometimes praises me. But I think it’s good for you that your elders keep guiding you and want more from you,” Babar added.
