Legendary Sachin Tendulkar wished South Africa legend Jacques Kallis as he turned 43 on Tuesday.

Jacques Kallis is undoubtedly one of the greatest-ever cricketers to have graced this beautiful game. Whether he was batting, bowling or fielding, Kallis rarely failed to deliver. He retired from the game as one of the most decorated allrounders of the game and definitely the most decorated batsman of South Africa.

Kallis is South Africa’s highest Test run-scorer and the third highest in Test history, behind only Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting. The legendary allrounder scored 13289 runs. He accumulated his runs at an average of 55.12, scoring 45 centuries and 58 half-centuries. He is also second in the list of most centuries in Tests.

Equally impressive with the ball, he picked up 292 Test wickets at an average of 32.53 runs. Even in terms of catches, he is only behind Rahul Dravid with 200 scalps.

Till 2016, he was the only cricketer in the history of the game to score more than 10,000 runs and take over 250 wickets in both ODI and Test match cricket.

Kallis was named Leading Cricketer in the World in the 2008 Wisden for his performances in 2007 in addition to being the “ICC Test Player of the Year” and ICC Player of the Year in 2005.

In ODIs too, Kallis is also one of the greatest ever players.  He scored 11,759 runs with the help of 17 centuries and 86 fifties. In addition, he picked up 273 wickets 131.

As expected, messages poured in from all corners for the legendary allrounder on his birthday and Sachin Tendulkar also took to Twitter to congratulate Kallis, writing:

“An amazing all-rounder but more importantly a simple and humble human being. It was a pleasure playing against you, @jacqueskallis75. Wishing you a very happy birthday.”
