The PCB said in a release on Thursday that Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will miss the second and final Test against Sri Lanka in Galle due to a knee injury (July 21).
On Day 4 of the opening Test of the series in Galle, which Pakistan won by four wickets, Afridi suffered an injury to his right knee.
The PCB statement stated that “Shaheen Shah Afridi will remain with the Test side in Sri Lanka, where his early rehabilitation and care will continue under the direction of the team’s medical personnel.”
At Galle International Stadium, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by four wickets in the first Test to take a 1-0 series lead. Abdullah Shafique, who batted first for Pakistan, scored an unbroken 160 to enable the visitors to chase down a record 342 at the designated location and grab a 1-0 series lead.
Prabath Jayasuriya, a Sri Lankan spinner who claimed nine wickets in the first Test, was unable to stop Shafique.
