IND vs SA: 3 Indian Batters To Watch Out For

The IND vs SA T20I series kicks off with the first T20I in Delhi from June 9. The following four games will be held at Cuttack, Vishakhapatnam, Rajkot, and Bangalore on June 12, June 14, June 17, and June 19 respectively. The series is a perfect dress rehearsal for both teams ahead of the T20 World Cup later this year in Australia.

For India, this series is of particular interest. For one, it gives the management to try out players ahead of the T20 World Cup. The squad has also been announced keeping the event in focus. Secondly, India have a chance to avenge their Test and ODI series defeat in South Africa earlier this year. KL Rahul

KL Rahul will lead the side in the absence of the regular players. He is fresh from another 600-plus season in the IPL. Opening the batting, he anchored a few run-chases for LSG. His role will be the same as the Indian team.

Rahul has been previously criticised for batting way too slower in the format. The same was on the show a few times in this IPL season as well. It will be interesting to see how he responds to that challenge.

Rishabh Pant

Pant had a forgetful IPL season as he ended it without a fifty to his name. Many times, he was out too early in his innings playing a few rash shots. Cricket experts criticised him for not playing his natural game and taking the pressure of being the leader of the side.

He returns to the Indian team purely as a wicketkeeper-batsman now and thus expectations from him are different this time. Virender Sehwag has even advocated the idea of Pant being allowed to open the batting for India in this series.

Dinesh Karthik

Karthik emerged as the finisher of the IPL. He was striking at almost 200 in the final five overs. That prompted the selectors to give him a recall to the Indian team at the age of 37. Karthik said the fire within him was always burning and he is keen on making it to India’s T20 World Cup in Australia.

In that goal of his, the South Africa series is his first litmus test. He has to take up the role of a finisher and finish games off consistently if he wants to be on that flight to Australia.
