Ashwin played his last ODI for India earlier this year against South Africa. However, if the bigger picture is seen, Ashwin is more likely to play Test and T20I cricket now rather than ODIs. The presence of Ravindra Jadeja across formats for India automatically becomes a preferred choice when it comes to choosing between the two.
Yuzvendra Chahal is the other preferred option as a specialist spinner in ODI and T20I cricket. He is likely to be selected in India’s T20I squad for the T20 World Cup and considering his chances, he should retire from ODI cricket.
