Temba Bavuma, South Africa’s skipper, has supported star fast-bowler Anrich Nortje ahead of the first game of the five-match T20I series against India.
The 32-year-old expects the Delhi Capitals bowler to shine in the upcoming series and contribute significantly to the team’s performance.

After missing international action since last year’s T20 World Cup owing to a hip injury, Nortje made a comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL2022 )’s season. However, the SA quicks had a disappointing season, failing to live up to their expectations.

He only took nine wickets and allowed runs at a rate of 9.71 in the six games. Delhi’s failure to reach the IPL 2022 playoffs was mostly due to his poor ball-handling.
‘Anrich Nortje is a key member of our bowling group for us’: Bavuma
Bavuma, the South African leader, has trusted the right-arm bowler to perform well in the five-match series against the Men in Blue, which begins on Thursday (June 9) in New Delhi.

On the day of the first Twenty20 International, Bavuma said to reporters, “Anrich is a key member of the bowling team for us. He had been out of action for a long time owing to injuries before he joined the IPL. However, the more he performs, the nearer he will come to reaching the peaks he is worthy of. We anticipate him to succeed as a valuable component of the squad.”
Nortje has played in 16 T20I matches for the Proteas thus far, taking 18 wickets. The speedster, whose pace regularly exceeds 150 mph, came to notoriety during the 2020 IPL season when he took 22 wickets in 16 games to finish as the fourth top wicket-taker.
