According to a report in the New Indian Express, the black marketers were having a field day ahead of the second T20I between India and South Africa as sources claim that the black marketers bought the match tickets in bulk and sold the tickets at higher prices.

The second T20 International match of the five-match T20 International series between India and South Africa was played at the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack on Sunday, June 12.

Meanwhile, the black marketers had purchased tickets in large quantities online as well as off the counters by engaging brokers and persons belonging to the labour class.

After they purchased the tickets in bulk they sold the passes through websites and social media platforms, including WhatsApp at higher prices.

Notably, a person is allowed to buy only two tickets but numerous people bought over 10 tickets from the website, as per sources.

The price of tickets for the second T20 International match between India and South Africa was INR 900 each for galleries 1, 3 and 5, the price for gallery 2 was INR 700 and the price for gallery 4 was INR 7000.

Meanwhile, the black marketers were selling gallery No.2 tickets for INR 5000 and gallery No.3 tickets for over INR 5000. Also, gallery No.4 tickets were sold for INR 15000, as per sources.

The total crowd capacity at the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack is 44, 234 and 29,154 were made available for sale by the Odisha Cricket Association.

Amongst those 29,154 passes, 8000 were reserved for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials and other affiliated units while 21,154 tickets were for the general public.

Amongst 21,154 tickets, 12,093 were sold offline and 9,061 were sold online. Notably, the offline tickets were sold out completely on Day 1 despite the Odisha Cricket Association making arrangements for its sale at nine counters over two days. Meanwhile, a senior police officer said they will look into the ticket black marketing matter.

Earlier, OCA secretary Sanjay Behera said: “Police should take action against black marketers,” added Behera.

Earlier, Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra said: “We have not received any complaint so far. We will look into it and take action if anyone is found guilty.”
