IND vs SA: Get Umran Malik In Early, Let Him Get Rid Of Those Nerves And Everything - Dale Steyn

South African pacer Dale Steyn felt that rising speedster, Umran Malik, should be given a chance in the first T20I against the South Africans which will get underway on June 9 in New Delhi.
Ahead of the series, head coach Rahul Dravid had stated that it might not be possible to give everyone a try in the squad. However, keeping Umran out of the playing XI is quite tough considering the kind of impact he can have.
Vouching for his pupil, Steyn, who mentors the 23-year-old pacer from Srinagar in the IPL, said it will be nice for him to get rid of the early nerves.

“I would throw Umran in. Get him in early. Let him have a game against South Africa and get rid of those nerves and everything so that by the time they hit 4-5 games in the series, he is already going. Also, I feel Arshdeep Singh has been just so good. He’s a difficult guy to leave out of the squad,” Steyn told ESPNcricinfo.
Dale Steyn on the rest of the Indian bowling attack
Steyn said that Bhuvneshwar Kumar should be the leader of the pace attack as he can control the situation well. The senior pro is also the go-to bowler in the absence of the usual star, Jasprit Bumrah, who has been rested for the series.

“I think the first one you should slot in there is somebody like Bhuvi. He controls things. With the Sunrisers this season, he was absolutely phenomenal. He’s great at the start and at the death as well. I’ll pick Bhuvneshwar Kumar, along with Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, and Hardik Pandya will be my fourth seamer,” Steyn added.
India’s squad for South Africa T20Is: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (c) (wk), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Hardik Pandya (vc), Venkatesh Iyer, Y Chahal, Axar Patel, R Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik.
