Irfan Pathan thinks Harshal Patel has made every effort to claim a place in Team India’s T20 World Cup team.
Harshal scored 4/25 in India’s third T20I against South Africa on Tuesday (June 14). His strike enabled the Men in Blue to bowl out the Proteas for 131 runs to pursue a 180-run target, resulting in a dominant performance.
During a Star Sports interview, Irfan Pathan was questioned if Harshal will go into India’s T20 World Cup team.
He responded: “I believe he’s done all that a bowler or player can do to reach his goal of playing in the World Cup. Harshal Patel has indeed been exceptional over the last year if he is going to play for his franchise or represent India.”
Harshal has 17 wickets in 11 T20 Internationals for Team India. Although he has been costly at times, he has more often than not held his own.
‘Harshal is quite similar to Bravo’: Irfan Pathan
Harshal’s abilities were especially in comparison to those of Dwayne Bravo the cricketer-turned-commentator.
Irfan Pathan expanded: “He has a lot of control, which is fantastic. When it did come to variations, he is quite comparable to Bravo because, when you go for runs with the slower ones, he doesn’t modify his speed, he just keeps changing his line or length. This is why he has had such great success. He is confident in his abilities.”
India kept their five-match series against South Africa alive with a comfortable 48-run convincing victory in the third T20I here on Tuesday.
Pant and company will face South Africa in the fourth T20I of the five-match series on June 17 (Friday) in Rajkot.
