Keepers: Rishabh Pant / Ishan Kishan, Dinesh Karthik
Pant has shown glimpses of his form but has not scored consistently in the opportunities that he has been given. The management tried to fit both Pant and DK in the final game against Afghanistan. Kishan, a like-for-like replacement for Pant can be tried in this series to see if he finds form and whether he is capable to play in Australia.
As far as Dinesh Karthik is concerned, he did not get too many opportunities to prove himself as a finisher in the Asia Cup. The management picked Pant ahead of him given that he was the only left-hander in the middle-order after Jadeja injured himself The South Africa series followed by the Australia series will be also important for him to prove his mettle to stay in the reckoning for the T20 World Cup selection.
