The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that the star wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson will be a part of the India squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the South Africa National Cricket Team.
India will go head-to-head with South Africa in a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series. The T20I games will be played on September 28, October 2 and October 4 in Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati and Indore. The ODI games are scheduled to be played in Ranchi, Lucknow and Delhi on October 6, October 9 and October 11.
On Wednesday, September 28, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly informed media persons that Samson, who is not a part of India’s T20I squad for the South Africa series and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, will definitely be included in India’s squad for the ODI series against South Africa.
“He’s played well for India, so he’ll be in the scheme of things. He just missed the T20 World Cup squad but he’s going to play in the ODI series against South Africa,” Ganguly while interacting with media persons in Kolkata said.
Notably, several key players of the Indian team are most likely to be rested for the South Africa ODIs, which will be the last international assignment of the Men In Blue ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 and the BCCI is likely to name a second-string side for the series.
