Yuzvendra Chahal wished his fellow India spinner Kuldeep Yadav after his amazing spell of left-arm wrist spin helped India win the third and final ODI against South Africa which was played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on October 11, 2022.

The series stood 1-1 with South Africa barely winning the first match and then India came back stronger in the second ODI in Ranchi. Shikhar Dhawan called correctly and won the toss, choosing to bowl first as the pitch had been covered for almost three days due to rain and retained moisture.

India was unchanged in this match, South Africa, on the other hand, had their third captain in third match, as David Miller made his ODI captaincy debut. They made three changes as well, as Andile Phehlukwayo came in for Wayne Parnell, Lungi Ngidi replaced Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen came in for Keshav Maharaj, who was unwell.

The Proteas batters found it difficult to make runs against Indian bowlers and then Mohammed Siraj with two early blows put them in a spot of bother. Kuldeep Yadav then swooped in and polished the tail with figures of 4/18 as South Africa was skittled out for 99 runs.

Apart from Kuldeep, Washington Sundar picked 2/15, Mohammed Siraj picked 2/17 and Shahbaz Ahmed took 2/32.

He said: “Feeling happy to take four wickets, have taken four wickets after such a long time. I was trying something different before IPL, and I am enjoying my bowling since then. I missed the hat-trick, could have bowled quicker. Should have changed the angle. I think Washington bowled really well. The wicket was gripping, I tried to bowl seam-up deliveries, tried to mix it up with the pace, tried to set up the batters. I was working on my rhythm, I was a bit slower before my injury. I am not compromising with spin, just trying to work on my rhythm.”

In the end, he was also named the Player of the Match for his 4/18 and got a wish from his former partner-in-crime Yuzvendra Chahal on Twitter.

Well bowled brother,” Chahal tweeted.
